William y Kate culminan su visita a EEUU con importante entrega de premios en Boston

William y Kate llegaron a Boston el miércoles y, desde entonces, mantuvieron una agenda repleta.

Después de dos días de recorridos por el área metropolitana de Boston para una serie de presentaciones, el Príncipe y la Princesa de Gales concluyeron su visita a Massachusetts el viernes anunciando a los ganadores de los Premios Earthshot durante una ceremonia en el MGM Music Hall.

Ashley Langan, a 20-year-old from Pembroke, showed up to Boston City Hall more than five hours early to see the Prince and Princess of Wales. “I’ve been following Will & Kate ever since I was a kid. I was obsessed with them as a kid. This is like my 11-year-old dream come true,” she said.

Su primer viaje a los Estados Unidos en ocho años llegó a su punto culminante el viernes, mientras entregaron los premios Earthshot Prize Awards, pero también tuvieron otras apariciones programadas a lo largo del día. LOS EARTHSHOT PRIZE AWARDS

El viaje de la pareja real culminó el viernes por la noche en el nuevo MGM Music Hall para los Earthshot Prize Awards, el motivo principal de su viaje a Boston.

Earthshot es el desafío global fundado en 2020 por el Príncipe William y la Royal Foundation en un esfuerzo por recompensar a quienes trabajan para reparar el planeta.

El premio contó con 15 finalistas -incluyendo una finalista de origen hispano-, para elegir a cinco ganadores, todo durante una celebración del planeta y la conservación repleta de celebridades.

El Príncipe y la Princesa de Gales finalmente anunciaron a los nuevos ganadores de los Premios Earthshot durante la ceremonia del viernes, tras un riguroso proceso de selección centrado en identificar las soluciones más inspiradoras, impactantes e inclusivas.

Los cinco ganadores de 2022 son:

  • Limpiar nuestro aire: Mukuru Clean Stoves, Kenia
  • Proteger y restaurar la naturaleza: Kheyti, India
  • Revivir nuestros océanos: mujeres indígenas de la Gran Barrera de Coral, Australia
  • Construir un mundo libre de residuos: Notpla, Reino Unido
  • Arreglar nuestro clima: 44.01, Omán

Cada ganador recibió un premio de un millón de libras esterlinas (aproximadamente $1,230,000) en la segunda ceremonia anual de los Earthshot Prize.

Durante la ceremonia el Príncipe de Gales mostró su pasión por la iniciativa. “Creo que las soluciones de Earthshot que han visto esta noche demuestran que podemos superar los mayores desafíos de nuestro planeta. Y al apoyarlos y escalarlos podemos cambiar nuestro futuro. Junto con los ganadores y finalistas de esta noche, y los que se descubrirán en los próximos años, espero que el legado de Earthshot continúe creciendo, ayudando a nuestras comunidades y a nuestro planeta a prosperar”, dijo.
